October 8, 2024 – DATAVERSITY Education, LLC, has announced a partnership with Scott Taylor, aka The Data Whisperer, to publish Taylor’s popular Data Puppets videos and upcoming multi-part series, “Journey to the Center of the Single Version of the Truth: The Greatest Data Story Ever Told.” The content can be viewed at dataversity.net/data-puppets.
Taylor, a longtime DATAVERSITY contributor and speaker, shared his first Data Puppets video, “Too Much Tech Talk,” with the data community in 2019. “The feedback was immediate: ‘This is just like my company!’” said Taylor. “That reaction inspired me to create a whole series that brings typical enterprise data challenges to life through characters like the Chief Dog Officer (CDO) striving to build a ‘data-driven utopia of interoperability’ and his buzzword-spouting sidekick, the IT Bee, who’s only concerned with implementing an ‘analytics-graph-hub-fabric-mesh.’”
Tony Shaw, the CEO and founder of DATAVERSITY, added that “Scott uses his amazing wordplay to ‘talk truth to power’ and offer serious messages on topics ranging from obscure business-speak to organizational dysfunction. They’re called the Data Puppets, but really they’re much-needed comic relief for anyone who works in corporate life. New episodes of the series will be added this December and will feature more than 20 puppet characters voiced by well-known data experts such as Bernard Marr, Kate Strachnyi, George Firican, Nicola Askham, Malcolm Hawker, Sanjeev Mohan, Tiankai Feng (who also wrote the music), and DATAVERSITY’s own Mark Horseman.
“I’m taking one of the oldest forms of analog storytelling and applying it to the highly digital world of data management,” said Taylor. “I hope these episodes not only entertain but inspire data leaders to take creative leaps in the ways they tell their own data stories.
