Solidatus, a Data Management platform based in London, England, recently welcomed its first chief data officer (CDO). Lorraine Waters, the former global chief data officer at HSBC, will fill this senior-level role, which more and more companies are embracing to help bridge the gap between technology and business and to get the most value from their data. A CDO typically spearheads organizational Data Strategy and Data Governance, as well as supervises other data-driven initiatives such as analytics, business intelligence, and Data Quality.
According to the press release, “As CDO of Solidatus, [Waters] will be responsible for championing the platform and engaging with Solidatus’ community of key stakeholders including current and future clients, regulators and strategic partners. She will actively develop the product to meet stakeholder needs, market opportunities, and upcoming challenges. Waters will take the lead in convening a new Solidatus Customer Advisory Board, and will provide support to the business in the areas of data privacy, ESG and financial crime risk management.”
Since 2017, Solidatus has been helping financial, pharmaceutical, and retail organizations digitally map, manage, and monetize their data using a lineage-first approach. Adding a CDO to the team reflects the company’s growth: Last year, it more than doubled in size and expanded into new sectors such as aerospace, manufacturing, telecommunications, and government.
