Mandy Chessell, Distinguished Engineer, IBM
Mandy Chessell CBE FREng CEng FBCS is an IBM Distinguished Engineer, Master Inventor and member of the IBM Academy of Technology. Mandy is a trusted advisor to executives from large organizations, working with them to develop their strategy and architecture relating to the governance, integration and management of information. She is also driving IBM’s strategic move to open metadata and governance through the Egeria and Apache Atlas open source projects, and the Linux Foundation ODPi Data Governance initiative. This work will deliver governance, discovery and access frameworks that automate the collection, management and use of metadata across an enterprise.
Mandy was identified in 2000 as one of MIT Technology Review’s hundred young people most likely to make significant 21st Century technical innovation. She is also distinguished as the first woman to win a Royal Academy of Engineering Silver Medal. She has received an honorary doctorate from four universities, the most recent from the University of Bath in 2017. Mandy has published numerous titles and has over 50 patents issued.
