A new press release reports, “HashiCorp, a leader in cloud infrastructure automation, today announced a new option to install a private instance of HashiCorp Terraform Enterprise in private datacenters and public clouds. This new private installation capability addresses the requirements for enterprises with strict business and regulatory compliance requirements. The initial deployment platforms are AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and VMware, with more platforms coming in the next few months. Terraform Enterprise became generally available in December of 2017 and was initially delivered as a SaaS offering (https://app.terraform.io/), hosted and managed by HashiCorp. Terraform Enterprise focuses on the collaboration and governance challenges of scaling provisioning productivity across an organization while still maintaining policy guardrails for compliance, security, and operational excellence.”

The release goes on, “The private version of Terraform Enterprise addresses the concerns of regulated industries, such as finance or healthcare, including: (1) Manage private datacenter infrastructure: Private Terraform Enterprise allows organizations to use the same provisioning workflow for private and public cloud infrastructure. (2) Data sovereignty requirements: Organizations can keep all provisioning data on-premises with the private install. (3) Custom application integrations: Private Terraform Enterprise integrates with on-premises software such as version control systems — BitBucket Server, GitLab, and GitHub Enterprise. (4) Enterprise operations: The operational performance and availability requirements for Private Terraform Enterprise are controlled by the customer.”
