A new press release reports, “AnyChart (http://www.anychart.com), one of global leaders in the development of interactive data visualization software, has opened the source of its popular JavaScript (HTML5) charting libraries AnyChart, AnyMap, AnyStock, and AnyGantt as part of the major 7.13.0 release published today. This ensures the uttermost customization opportunity for web developers who can now add, remove and modify everything at the source code level. Following this step, AnyChart declared itself open. The company publicly shared its issue tracker, branch list, and build scripts in addition to making the source code available for review and download on GitHub.”
Anton Baranchuk, CEO and Founder of AnyChart, noted, “All elements powered by our data visualization solutions have always been highly customizable through the JavaScript API as well as JSON and XML. Now, by publicly sharing the entire source code, we invite web developers to enjoy the next-level, cutting-edge flexibility of our JavaScript charting libraries. All in all, the openness also makes AnyChart even more trustworthy in the eyes of our existing and future customers.”
The release continues, “Earlier, in September 2016, AnyChart open-sourced its own graphics rendering engine under the name of GraphicsJS (http://www.graphicsjs.org), a powerful lightweight JS library for SVG/VML based drawing and animation, which then received a Devies Award at DeveloperWeek as the best JavaScript technology of the year. While GraphicsJS is available for free under the BSD license, utilizing AnyChart, AnyMap, AnyStock, and AnyGantt will still require a commercial license except for educational, personal, and any other non-profit use.”
